“See you after the Bells”
This uniquely Scottish phrase means we’ll celebrate the new year with you. We see the new year in with the Bells and at the first chime of the new year we sing Auld Lang Syne and probably Oh Flower of Scotland too.
But Hogmany in Scotland is a real treat. It has been celebrated in style for centuries unlike Christmas. Did you know that until 1958 Christmas day wasn’t even a bank holiday in Scotland?
Street parties are the best way to get involved and Inverness has its own Red Hot Highland Fling. If you fancy something a little more intimate you could try #bogmanay
Happy New Year. x
